Clay

First of all, as I stated in my update video on my Facebook page last week, thank you very much for being understanding of my intermission for the blog. It was very much needed and appreciated.

This has been a season of re-wetting they clay so to speak.

When clay is left out for too long the oxygen hits it and a cracked outer skin appears. It is not damaged beyond repair or tossed out. Instead, potters allow it to either complete the drying cycle or put it into a bucket with other broken pieces or clay remnants. After enough is collected into a bucket, a potter will take the clay, apply moisture and rework it. They knead it until the consistency is smooth and pliable. It is then ready for the next step on the wheel to be crafted into a wonderful masterpiece.

After every season we complete, it’s like we get tossed back into the remnant bucket. The Lord takes us out of it when the time is right, add His Living Water – His Son and re-kneads us. As long as we are willing, He can make us pliable for the next season of life He is preparing us for. All of the seasons or experiences we have gone through get worked into fashioning us into what the Potter will use us for just like the word says in Jeremiah.

“But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.” Jeremiah 18:4

Sweet reader, it hasn’t all been for nothing. Even if you can’t see it right now, your story is weaved into His and you are worthy of the Potter’s hands to shape you into something beautiful.

Your tears have wet the clay and all you need to do is wait.

Some kneading times take longer than others depending on the state of the clay from the previous season. Know that you are seen and your prayers are being heard.

I’ve heard this asked many times in the past six months, “Please tell me what I can do other than just pray.” However, that’s all and exactly what I needed. Just prayer. Prayer is and has been enough. Because God’s word isn’t going to return void to me and I believe the prayers over me and my family are going to be answered on earth as they are in heaven. It may be different than how I hoped but they will be answered.

I don’t have anything to offer you this Christmas season other than the hope that Jesus really is going to come through for you. Hold onto that with the faith you have been entrusted with.

I pray for your hearts to heal and this season to be a joyful one.

Have a great week and enjoy the moments of peace even if they are a glimmer instead of a shine.

-Jamie
