Exponential Growth
Texas spring, minus the allergies, is a favorite of mine. Everything has new growth; the winter decay can be discarded and soil can be turned for crops.
About a week ago, my girls and I planted four seed trays, several large pots and two more areas of just seeds for our spring and summer garden. We still have some coming up because they require a longer germination period, but I’d say about 80% of what my girls and I planted have surfaced.
It never ceases to amaze me the amount of growth that transpires as the seed shoots from the soil into a seedling. In one week, we already have stems that are 3-4” tall!!
They have all of the right elements to grow quickly. The temperatures have been warmer, they’re planted in the right season, the moisture content is perfect and the sunlight has been beaming it’s little smiling face. I’ve seen exponential growth due to all of the conditions being ideal. There is no struggle for these seeds to transform from their dormant nothingness into life producing vegetables and herbs.
Now, had we planted these seeds in a different season, let’s say in the middle of Texas summer, we would then have a different story.
Half these seeds wouldn’t have come up and the ones that did decide to germinate would struggle to grow. The culprit being the heat and high evaporation rate. They wouldn’t have enough roots growing to gain the nutrients needed to grow. Many of the seeds would shrivel and rot away.
Once the surviving plants made it past the delicate sprouting stage, it would be a gamble to see which ones actually produced any blooms for vegetables. Even if the blooms were present, there would be no guarantee that the plant would produce any fruit. Why? It’s in pure survival mode. When plants go into this, they’re only able to take in enough nutrients to stay alive. There’s not enough strength for it to make the tomatoes, squash or other things we love to eat.
All because it was planted in the wrong season facing elements the plant had no chance to survive and produce in.
Are all of our seasons going to be perfect? Absolutely not. Personally, anyone who believes this needs to come live down here for a year to understand how quickly seasons change down here in Texas. It seems like we will have every single season in one day it seems.
I will tell you this though, when all of the elements come together under the authority of God, let me tell you the growth that you have been seeking, praying for, fasting over is going to seem to be exponential and out of nowhere.
All that was requested from us was to have a mustard seed of faith.
“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you” Matthew 17:20 (NIV).
A single mustard seed will grow into a plant that can produce up to 1200 seeds. Now that, is some exponential growth.
I encourage you that if your situations are looking grim or frustrating, God may be working on parts of your character to grow first before He can level you up. Because if He did it now, you wouldn’t be ready for it and you might mess it up in months to come. Sometimes what may seem like a mess may be a work in your favor in the long run.
I pray that your faith would multiply like the mustard seed does.
As always, if you need prayer or encouragement this week – send a message through the contact page.
Y’all have a blessed week and enjoy spring break!
