My little yellow flower

Like most, 2023 was difficult year in more ways than one. The economy and skyrocketing inflation rates which have sustained for the past three years, felt like it caught up with us.

Adversity by definition is a state or instance of serious or continued difficulty. We do not enjoy it. We cringe at its name. We even panic and worry about the how’s, why’s and future outcomes.

However, what better of a way for the Lord to use it for our good? I know it really just plain sucks sometimes. Trust me when I say I 100% understand and feel your struggle if you’re in the midst of it right now!

We have two options really. We can complain, struggle, and worry. Or rather we can, remember this is a season, have faith knowing the Lord already saw all of this coming and that He really is going to work it all out. We may not know how, we may not know when, but I guarantee you, your faith is going to increase because of it if you allow it to. There is nothing you can do, scheme, try to work out etc.

Sometimes you really just have to wait on the Lord to provide or to work things out.

I really felt beat up towards the end of December which has continued some into the new year. I felt discouraged, ashamed, uncertain and just angry at myself. I want things to be balanced, better and fruitful now.

One evening when I walked out to the tack and feed room to get livestock fed, there was a small yellow flower poking through the ground. I brushed aside the grass and hay that surrounded the petals and was reminded of the scripture in 2 Corinthians 4:8-9.

8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;

9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

The little flower, despite the rain, freezing temperature and being completely out of its normal germination season was growing! Right there by the door of the tack room for me to notice. It was my little God wink to remind me that He hasn’t forgotten me or where I’m at in my winter season.

Spring is coming readers . . . and your winter too shall soon end!

I pray this is the year of promises you’ve prayed for coming to fruition!

Stay warm this week and don’t lose hope even when it seems grim.
