Quenched Thirst

Psalms 42:1-2 says, “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.”

I have been searching for a particular worship song for a few days and yet still can not 100% determine which song it is. But let me tell you I am thirsty for this song. It resonates with my soul in a way that is wanting to praise and worship the Lord.

I did find it on a YouTube church channel and have replayed it over a few times to quench my thirst a bit. The more I listened to it the more it made me want to worship more. So, I did what any worshiper does – turned it up to 30 in the truck and sang all the way to work this morning.

We all have a thirst within us that is only satisfied by the living God. This is why when we fall into addictive patterns from abusing alcohol, drugs, sex, worldly music, or even tobacco we never get fully satisfied. There’s something that draws us into it more and more until we are consumed.

The worldly things will give us satisfaction temporarily but reaps no other benefits. It’s because that void that we want filled so desperately is only to be filled by the Lord. He’s the only one who can quench the thirst we have and that reaps an eternal life benefit.

I know it’s hard. Trust me I know it’s hard.

I pray that as the thirst for Him grows you’ll find the sweet drink of salvation your soul has been craving. Be patient with yourself sweet reader.

37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them. John 7-:37-38
