Waterslide
Deuteronomy 31:8 - It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.
A couple of years ago, we went to SeaWorld. My oldest had been before but for my youngest it was her first time. We decided to split up the park into two days to maximize the enjoyment for everyone. (Mainly mama because there was no way I was going to cover two parks in one day with an eleven-year-old and a three-year-old.)
My oldest had her heart set on going up a very high swirled waterslide. I wasn’t sure if my youngest was going to be able to go on it or not so we asked. She had to be a certain height and I had to hold her down the slide. Because tall genes are in their blood, needless to say my youngest was able to ride.
We started to make our way up the wooden steps and hit a standstill in line about midway. People started to fill in behind us so it would have been a chore if we needed to climb back down.
Finally, our turn was nearing and my little one had then realized how high up we actually were. The fear in here eyes I could tell was growing as she then looked at the people sliding down in the inflatable yellow and blue rafts at a quicken pace. I assured her that mama was going to hold her tight and everything was going to be just fine. I wasn’t going to let her go and she wasn’t going to fall off of it either. We were 100% going to make it to the bottom and be alright.
How many times do we act just like this?
We’re scared, we have a hard time trusting God and we find ourselves wanting to go back down the stairs because its comfortable there.
A situation arises that requires us hop on a waterslide of life, blindly trusting God and we end up having a hard time believing that it’s all going to be alright in the end.
Meanwhile, the whole entire time God is just saying to us, “I’m going to hold you tight and everything is going to be just fine.”
He’s already looked ahead and knows the winding curves ahead but he’s never going to leave you just like the verse up there says.
God will hold you tight and be with you the whole way down the slide.
Let me finish with this, my daughter went down the slide and after the splashes and fear subsided, she later told me she loved it.
